Mohini Chatlani

Mohini's heritage               
stems from a unique combination of ancestral yogic traditions, from India, on the paternal side, and deep rich cultural diversity and influence from Egypt, on the maternal.
Her interest in yoga arose out of personal calling, which then grew into a passion to share the benefits she derived from yoga with everyone else!

A practitioner and teacher of yoga for over 25 years, Mohini's background is
artistic - theatre and performing arts, having spent may years as a singer, story- teller, percussionist, her experience spanning the local concert to the opera platform. She is actively composing and producing music, and established her own record label Heartspace Music in 2012.

 

 

Yogaflowstm

The creativity,which encompasses the essential ingredients of humour, passion, spontaneity, and vigour, which course through her being naturally, is woven into her eclectic teaching style. She seeks to provide a "whole experience" in the yoga class, integrating stimulating, energetic and uplifting music, flowing yoga - having originated "Yogaflows" ™, healing sound, mudras, breathing and pranayama, relaxation and metaphor.  

She has  an integral and eclectic Western peppered with Eastern flavours approach to her practice and teaching, to enliven body, heart and soul. The practices include dimensions of spontaneous self-inquiry - Advaita, Vipassana (Insight) Metta (Loving Kindness), Meditations and Soundflows tm - Healing and Sacred Sound. Her practice and teaching is solidly underpinned by the teachings of her guiding, teachers - past and present, and her deep connection to the Earth. She continues to develop her original approach to yoga - Yogaflows tm.

  
Current interests
in recent years has been in redressing the balance between the
Yang or Fire, and
the Yin or Water practices, through her personal practice of Chi Kung and Tai Chi and continuing development and study of body, mind and energy systems through Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Taoism. She has also worked in a voluntary project with teenagers in a local college with envision  young people making a   difference.  She is currently a volunteer with Amma's organisation Embracing the World.

 
Mohini's Passion and Humour

courses through her life and teaching : grounded in the elements and simply "showing up" to be in relationship with all that life presents each new day. Her deep interest into the human condition, where each one seeks enduring happiness and a way out of suffering, inspires her to encourage others to empower themselves, both on an educational, personal and inspirational level, bringing joy, love and compassion to their lives, which in turn ripples outwards.

Her studies and training
in Humanistic Psychotherapy over the last seven years, contributes greatly to encouraging not only enlivening the physical and pranic bodies, but also learning to open up to difficult emotions, which she believes is essential in deepening insights into one's True Nature.

Fuelled by the innate hunger she feels each soul has to be happy, Mohini seeks to provide a forum for an unconditional and loving space to transform the experience of yoga on the mat, into wisdom both practical and spiritual, for our lives.

Her teachers
have included Yogi Amrit Desai Kripalu Yoga, Mickey Singer Raja/Patanjali Yoga, Erich Schiffmann author of "The Spirit and Practice of Moving into Stillness", David Life and Sharon Gannon authors of "Jivamukti Yoga - Practices for Liberating Body and Soul", Clive Sheridan- Kundalini Tantra, Sarah Powers - Yin Yoga. For Sound, Music and Movement she has worked with and is inspired by Gilles Petit and Chloe Goodchild. She holds certification from Amrit Trust for Kripalu Yoga, British Wheel of Yoga, Spirit of Yoga from Eric Schiffmann, along with Royal Schools of Music Teaching and Performing Diploma. She is also a qualified Holistic Massage Therapist.

India
Mohini regularly visits India and France for retreats and to spend time with her family. Her guiding teacher and spiritual master is Sri Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Ma  (Amma) She continues a steady commitment to deepen into silence on retreats. Her other teachers have included Burgs on Usada and Vipassana retreats for Concentration, Meditation, Serenity and Self-Healing Practices. John Ding of the International Tai Chi Chuan Academy for Chi Kung, and  Yang style Tai Chi  , qualifying as a Tai Chi for Health Instructor in 2011.

Since the publication of her book "Yogaflows" in 2002, Mohini has offered workshops in many regions and counties of England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. In 2005, she was invited as the Guest Tutor for the New Zealand Yoga Convention and to Singapore to teach a series of Master Classes and workshops. She has led retreats in France, Egypt, Cyprus and the United Kingdom.
